Emergency Aid for Victims of Damaged Housing in Ukraine

Project: Emergency Aid for Victims of War-Damaged Housing in Southeastern Ukraine

Implemented by Refugee Protection International with Ukrainian charity Happy Child Foundation

Project Summary: Refugee Protection International and Ukrainian partner charity Happy Child provided the families of 60 houses damaged by rocket fire and shelling in Komyshuvakha with emergency multipurpose cash assistance, intended to facilitate evacuation and temporary accommodation or to support urgent roof repairs until families have decided how best to survive this merciless war. Many rely on their livestock and gardens for sustenance. Evacuation support from surrounding areas that have come under occupation and/or heavy shelling has proven highly challenging, yet critical.

RPI’s Jennifer Hill was in Komyshuvakha just a day after the town came under attack in order to expand civilian evacuations from surrounding towns on the frontline in coordination with local partners and volunteers. On May 12th, Jennifer spoke with a family whose house was heavily damaged on May 11, 2022.  Videos and news coverage on this tragic event will be released shortly.

With other Ukrainian medical partners and volunteers, we continue to support the evacuation of Ukrainian civilians from frontline areas, as well as the medical evacuation of surrogate babies from the capital to safer areas in western Ukraine.
